The young leaves offer a clean, refreshing taste of cool cucumber, making it a wonderful addition to salad with leaves that can be harvested all year round in mild winters, just be sure to remove the leaves from there stem before eating, as these can be tough.

Salad Burnet is tough; as a native wildflower in many parts of Europe, it is perfectly adapted to poor, alkaline, or chalky soils and is remarkably drought-tolerant once its deep roots are established. It is often evergreen in milder climates, providing a splash of green in the winter garden when other plants have gone dormant. It requires very little attention, just snip off the flower stalks as they appear to keep the foliage tender and productive all season long. If left to bloom, however, the  flowers become a wonderful source of forage for small pollinators

Love for the plants and passion for growing shines in abundance from the plants I have received. Delivered well packed and in great condition. Now I just need to read up on how to plant these properly in Huw’s book to do them justice and hopefully I’ll have little permaculture garden of my own for years to come. Great job Huw & everyone at Dyfi for inspiration and excellent YouTube chanel too

FAQs

We hope our FAQ’s help, but if you need any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

We can only send orders to other parts of mainland GB due to strict regulations for the sending of plant materials and sadly we do not have the capacity to fill in phytosanitary certificates.

As we are a small business we currently have one packing day a week, and so expect your delivery within 2 weeks from ordering your plants.

At this moment in time we are not open for visits to the nursery, however if you come on a volunteer day or in-person course with Huw or Sam at Dan Yr Onnen you can of course then see the nursery and purchase plants in person.

Because working with plants can be an unpredictable business, for simplicity we do not offer pre-orders on all products however we may occasuinally open certain orders for pre orders and these will be clearly marked. The best time to know that we have restocked is to join our mailing list followed by looking out for updates on our Instagram.

We have decided to focus on growing plants 100% naturally without the limitations of going with organic certification. No artificial pesticides, fungicides, or anyother-icides are used on site.
