Plant once, grow forever!
Plants for Resilient Gardens
Dyfi Plants was founded by Huw Richards and Sam Cooper. Our goal is to provide a wide range of edible and useful plants for small to medium-sized growing projects such as back gardens and community gardens.
With an emphasis on perennial plants and rarer varieties that hold special characteristics, we aim to cater to any project looking to create a resilient garden or edible landscape.

Supporting Communities
Supporting other projects is a vital part of the work we do, as we play a small part in an exciting network of people and organisations working towards a food system built on local resilience and putting nature at the centre of everything.
In addition to our working collaboration with Incredible Vegetables, for every 10 plants we sell, we will donate 1 edible perennial plant to a community growing project.

Permaculture in Mid-West Wales
Dyfi Plants itself located at Dan Yr Onnen, a permaculture experimental growing site nestled in the southern area of the UNESCODyfi Biosphere, a beautiful slice of mid-west Wales.
The site is 7 acres in size, and consists of multiple projects including the garden used for Huw & Sam’s Self Sufficiency book, along with a David Austin Roses garden for edible uses, an orchard converted into a syntropic system, and plenty more!
Meet the dyfi plants team

Huw Richards
Founder & Operations
Huw Richards is a permaculturalist and author who fell in love with growing by propagating blackcurrant cuttings at a young age. His work focuses on creating and inspiring people to create their own edible landscapes; be it on their allotment or homestead. Huw is a co-director of Regenerative Media alongside Sam.

Sam Cooper
Founder & Creative
Sam Cooper is a professional chef by background and an author, and since 2021 has been working alongside Huw in their quest to bridge the gap between the growing and cooking of incredible produce. He is known for being a pioneer in the world of fermentation, and is always on the lookout for new flavours to grow.

Llyr Griffiths
Nurseryman
Llyr Griffiths started working with Huw and Sam at the age of 16, and has now joined the team on a full-time basis since leaving school. He has his own food forest and garden at home, holds a permaculture design certificate through Geoff Lawton’s online course, and loves anything to do with tools and machinery.

Eleri Jenkins
Nursery Manager
Eleri studied wildlife conservation at university. After various roles in the conservation sector, her growing interest in botany led her to pursue horticulture, including a position as deputy head gardener at Palé Hall Hotel. When not in the garden, Eleri can be found on the beach fossil hunting with her two daughters.

Humphrey
Director of Transport
Humphrey needs little introduction, he’s the backbone of the team. A real unit, he can carry more than anyone else and never complains, no matter how rough the road. From early mornings at the local farmers’ market to long drives delivering plants or dropping off parcels at the Royal Mail sorting office, Humphrey keeps everything moving smoothly.

William Tweedy
Marketing
William joined the Regenerative Media team to aid their video production side for multiple social media channels, and runs the Dyfi Plants YouTube channel. He also enjoys spending time getting stuck in with the garden, and when he isn’t at work, he is still behind the camera working on his own documentary projects.

The Ladies
Head Composters
Our lovely flock of ex-layers from a local organic egg farm have a new job – turning all the green materials from the site into beautiful rich compost! We make sure we give them plenty of greens every day, and they have the time of their lives packing and scratching around their super-posh pen. Plus they also provide plenty of eggs for the team to share.
