Bocking 14 Comfrey is a vigorous, clump-forming perennial with large, hairy green leaves and tall flower spikes of purple to blue blossoms in early summer. Specially selected for its high nutrient content and sterile nature, it stays where planted and doesn’t spread by seed, making it ideal for controlled use in gardens and permaculture systems.

The leaves are packed with potassium, phosphorus, and calcium, making them perfect for chop-and-drop mulch, compost boosting, or steeping into nutrient-rich liquid fertiliser. Its fast regrowth allows for multiple cuts per season, and the deep roots mine nutrients from subsoil, making them accessible to other plants.

Hardy, drought-tolerant, and incredibly useful, Bocking 14 is one of the most trusted companion plants for fruit trees, veg patches, and no-dig systems. Reliable, regenerative, and remarkably productive, it’s a cornerstone plant for regenerative growers.

FAQs

We hope our FAQ’s help, but if you need any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

We can only send orders to other parts of mainland GB due to strict regulations for the sending of plant materials and sadly we do not have the capacity to fill in phytosanitary certificates.

As we are a small business we currently have one packing day a week, and so expect your delivery within 2 weeks from ordering your plants.

At this moment in time we are not open for visits to the nursery, however if you come on a volunteer day or in-person course with Huw or Sam at Dan Yr Onnen you can of course then see the nursery and purchase plants in person.

Because working with plants can be an unpredictable business, for simplicity we do not offer pre-orders on all products however we may occasuinally open certain orders for pre orders and these will be clearly marked. The best time to know that we have restocked is to join our mailing list followed by looking out for updates on our Instagram.

We have decided to focus on growing plants 100% naturally without the limitations of going with organic certification. No artificial pesticides, fungicides, or anyother-icides are used on site.
