Keeper Kale is a rare and resilient perennial brassica hybrid from a cross between Purple Tree Collard and Daubenton kale. It combines the best of both parents: very tender, dark green to purple leaves, excellent pest resistance, and a naturally compact, bushy form that fits beautifully into edible borders and permaculture plots.
It thrives in full sun or partial shade and tolerates winter frosts down to -10 oC with ease, continuing to produce nutritious leaves even in colder months.
Whether you’re building a resilient food garden or adding structure to an ornamental bed, Keeper Kale is a standout choice: visually striking, highly productive, and easy to propagate from cuttings.
